Information

General information and Studio policies

Welcome to our studio. My teachers and I thank you for the privilege of teaching your child. Our program is designed to develop discipline, confidence, teamwork, and talent through fun and self expression while learning the art of dance.

Registration and Recital fee

An annual registration is due upon enrollment. This non-refundable fee of $35 ensures student placement and takes care of the enrollment fee for the 2019-2020 year. *The annual recital fee is a $50 non-refundable fee due January 9, 2020. This secures a spot for your dancer in our annual spring recital held in June.

Class information

Qualified instructors teach all classes. Student assistants will be present in classes when deemed necessary by the teacher. We offer Ballet, Tap & Tumbling classes for all ages. Lyrical, Jazz, Pom and Hip-hop may be offered depending on the student’s age and ability. A short water break will be taken at the time needed. We try to limit as much down time as possible to focus on the class time. We have a drink machine that charges $1 a drink. Snacks may be brought to class & only to be eaten in-between classes. Please help keep our studio clean.

Classroom Attire

Dance is a disciplined art. Ballet and Tap students must wear a black leotard and pink tights until after their fifth year of dance. It is then that a student may wear any color leotard but maintain pink tights. Tights should always be worn! TOTS & Level 1 Ballet/Tap students are required to wear a pink leotard and a pink skirt which is optional. Hair should be pulled back out of face and off neck. A cover up should be worn to and from classes. (DO NOT WEAR DANCE SHOES TO AND FROM CLASSES) Please label all belongings with dancer’s first and last name. We will have cubbyholes available to leave dance bags if desired.

Attendance

Students are encouraged to attend every class. Please keep absences to a minimum. When one student is absent it effects the entire class, especially during recital season, January-June. If you see that you will not make it to class, please call and let Mrs. Katey know. Please arrive to your classes 5-10 minutes early to ensure we start our classes on time. Parents, please be prompt in picking up your child and please come inside to get them (for your child’s safety). If you will be late picking up your child please call the studio and let us know. Also, if anyone other than a parent will be picking up your child please inform his or her teacher ahead of time.

Parent participation and observance

Home practice is always encouraged. All children are different and each year yields a different need for work outside of studio classes. Parents, please try to limit your conversations with the teachers prior to class starting up. We understand at times it cannot be avoided, but it eats up valuable class time and your investment.

Tuition

Monthly tuition is due the first day of every month. After the 5th day of the month, a $5 late fee every week late will be assessed. Please drop all payments in the box marked tuition located at the front. There will be a $30 dollar fee applied to all returned checks. Tuition is not prorated for holidays or missed classes and is the same whether it is 2, 3, or 4 week month. We will be accepting online payments/auto-draft as soon as its ready!

*June tuition is also not prorated; June tuition includes the first week of dance in August, the 2 weeks in June & recital rehearsal & recital day.

Private lessons

Private lessons are available upon request at a charge of $40 per hour- to learn a routine for a competition, pageant, extra technique help, for 10th and 15th year solos, or extra help if classes have been missed, ect. Most routines take at least 3 hour- long sessions to learn.

Hometown Christmas show

TSDC hosts the annual hometown Christmas show in Fouke, AR. This is a benefit for Citizens for a better community. TSDC dancers will perform Christmas routines at the show along with other special guest. This event will be held Saturday, December 15th @ the Fouke high school ‘old’ gymnasium. Times & other details TBA.

Lobby Area

We will allow our parents to view class the first full week of each month. Please be careful of conversation topics because there are many “little ears” around. Please do not talk about adult topics, other dancers or parents, or instructors. This is not appropriate for the lobby area. If you have a problem regarding the instructors, other students, or parents, please see Mrs. Katey to discuss it. By talking about it in the lobby you are undermining the instructor’s authority or hurting the feelings of other dancers and their parents. Please help us to promote the most positive environment and make everyone feel welcome.

Studio holidays

There will be no classes for Labor Day, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, Spring break week & Memorial day. We will follow the Fouke Independent School District schedule. We will not observe any other holidays or teacher work days unless notified. *If bad weather occurs and FISD Schools are closed, our studio will be closed as well.

(Memorial day- We will have a make up day before hand for missing classes on this day)
